Ouch!

I came home yesterday to find that the Chalice coral frag had been knocked into the Hill Acan. This was very interesting in that the flesh of the Acan that was in contact with the chalice was disintegrating! No apparent effect on the Chalice, though.

Here is a photo of the Acan today. Yesterday I pulled it out of the display tank and into quarantine (after a quick iodine bath), but wasn't optimistic that it would make it- this was more to make sure it wouldn't foul the tank if it totally disintegrated. We'll see what happens... A good eighth of the one polyp that was in contact with the chalice is totally gone- evidenced by the white patch of skeleton visible in the photo below:















Here is a picture of the two characters from about 2 weeks ago. The potential for catastrophe is evident in retrospect... ;)
